Stephen C. Gieser, M.D., M.P.H., specializes in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma.

Education

Dr. Gieser received his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College and his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Gieser completed a residency in ophthalmology at Yale University and then, because of his interest in blindness prevention in developing countries, obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) from Johns Hopkins University. His additional four years of fellowship training included glaucoma specialization at the Wilmer Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Experience

Dr. Gieser has lectured at numerous national and international ophthalmology meetings and published many scientific articles, including eight textbook chapters. In l991 he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to investigate a vascular eye disease in South India.

Accreditation

Dr. Gieser is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Affiliations

Dr. Gieser is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, DuPage County Medical Society and the U.S. Fulbright Association. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology and the DuPage County Medical Society.
